Hobo style purse

I have been playing with this in my mind for a long time and finally got it done. As a first one, there were many things that did not work as well as I hoped. But I can see a lot of improvements in my tooling and I learned a lot about the does and don'ts in construction. The flap sectioned tooled.

I am getting much better definition with my tooling. A lot of it has to do with getting some better bevellers from Northern Lights Leather Tools.

I hand painted the background using Golden Acrylic paints and air brush medium. I did get some of it on the leaf but it doesn't show after the leaf was coloured.

I coloured the flowers and leaves with Copic markers. This was a real learning experience as they behave a lot differently on leather than on smooth cardstock.

Then I antiqued with a dark brown hilite stain to pull it all together.

This wasn't the best fabric for the liner as it is a cotton, but I loved the print. I can always replace it if it wears out.

The blue leather I bought at Tandy leather on sale. I'm not sure that is shows in the pictures but it isn't navy and isn't royal blue, but somewhere in between. A really pretty colour with denim.

First Belt

It seems that everyone that starts to play with leather makes a belt at some part in the process. This is the first one I have made and it was decidely a learning experience. Hopefully the next one will be better and I have learned from my mistakes. lol

Leather coin purse

I have seen these nifty little no sew coin purses while cruising the web and thought I would try and make one. This is my version. There are some errors in tooling and dying because I was impatient and rushing but I still think it turned out ok. Leather working will teach me patience, if nothing else. lol

Leather watch band

I have been playing with leather these days. Just learning of course and things are still really rough but I thought I would share the watch band I made using scraps. I did a lot of things wrong so this was a great learning experience but I am pleased that the end result is wearable.

Christmas cards

I have been on a stamping hiatus for quite a while. My hobbies seem to have changed as happens to many. But this lovely stamp has never had the kiss of ink and I thought I would like to make some cards with it. Here are a couple of quick pics of the cards that I made using the Holly stamp from the Stampsmith. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Lucy Vacation Book

I submitted this ages ago to Stampington and now that it has been returned, thought I would share it with you. This book uses images from the Stampsmith Lucy plate and I thought it would be fun to see if I could turn them into a story.

The images were stamped on glossy cardstock, and coloured with water based markers applied by paintbrush.

I was so happy to see this formerly retired image back in this collection. She is one of my favourites. The snowflake was cut on my KNK electronic die cutter.
